Best Rock Performance

Formed in 2017, the Black Pumas in an award winning, multi-Grammy nominated psychedelic soul band based in Austin, Texas. The group is comprised of power duo, singer songwriter Eric Burton and Grammy Award-winning guitarist and producer Adrian Quesada. The group’s stellar rise took them from a weekly residency at Austin’s C-Boys Heart & Soul juke-joint to, in 2019, performing at South by Southwest, winning a best new band trophy at the Austin Music Awards, releasing their debut album, Black Pumas and receiving a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Wow!

Best Metal Performance

Gojira is a French heavy metal band formed with the same line-up since 2001. The band’s hallmarks are its high-energy performances and meaningful lyrics. Gojira hasn’t looked back since gaining exposure in the USA in 2008. Originally styled in the sub-genre of death metal and having played the loudest recorded concert at the Stade de France, band members decided to adopt a more straightforward groove metal style. This has resulted in a Grammy nomination for their chart-topping Fortitude album which has attracted even non-metal fans

Best Rock Song

What more can be said musically about Paul McCartney that hasn’t already been said, still rocking at 79 years of age and loving it. Living proof that music is an addiction, Paul is quoted as saying “Nothing pleases me more than to go into a room and come out with a piece of music”. he recorded his new Grammy nominated song Find My Way to help people stay positive during Covid-19 lockdown. Best R&B Performance

At 24 years of age, Gabriella Wilson a.k.a. H.E.R. is an old hand at both performing and the Grammys. As an R&B singer, her earliest childhood influences came from singing in her father’s cover band and before her teens, she had acted, sung and appeared on television. H.E.R. then went on to win two 2019 Grammy Awards, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Album. And if they doesn’t make your jaw drop, she has also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Fight for You’ from the film Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)

Silk Sonic was formed in 2017 by Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars as “a joke two friends hatched on the road”. In February 2021 Mars announced that he and .Paak had made an album with the the lead single ‘Leave The Door Open’. Silk Sonic’s musical style has been described as R&B, soul, funk, pop, smooth soul and funk-pop and radiates 1970’s style confidence and charisma
